Terms and Definitions

These definitions define terms used in the document with which the user may not be familiar with.

ADSL

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line is a type of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology, a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission over copper telephone lines than a conventional voice band modem can provide.

Alias

A familiar name given to a person by friends or family e.g. Joe (for Joseph)

CANBUS

Controller Area Network is a vehicle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other within a vehicle without a host computer.

Latitude

The angular distance north or south of the earth's equator, measured in degrees along a meridian, as on a map or globe e.g.

Longitude

Angular distance on the earth's surface, measured east or west from the prime meridian at Greenwich, England, to the meridian passing through a position, expressed in degrees (or hours), minutes and seconds e.g.

No Go Zone

An identified area or region where vehicles are prohibited to enter without the necessary authority e.g. crime zones.

Point of Interest

Pre-defined locations registered on a map to assist with the navigation of a driver e.g. power substations, refuelling locations, etc.
