1.3  How Does the Empower Application Operate?

Empower is a state of the art fleet management application and is combined with the Tracker stolen vehicle recovery system. Empower is a "Thin" client application with a low-footprint which concentrates solely on providing a graphical user interface to the end-user.  The remaining functionality, in particular the intensive background processing, is provided by servers housed within Tracker and not on the user's PC. It operates on the mobile (cellular) communication networks devised by the Global System for Mobile (GSM) telecommunications standardisation organisation. The primary method of communication is by means of General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) backed-up by the Short Message Service (SMS) to provide real-time Global Positioning System (GPS) position that is accurate within metres. Various optional devices can be incorporated with the installed tracking device to provide data which is used for fleet management and to monitor driver behaviour.

This Help File assists the user or fleet manager to maximise the use of available tools installed in a vehicle thereby improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of the fleet. The Empower application manages the following data from devices fitted by a Tracker approved fitment centre or picked off from the vehicle management system:

·         Tracking Units - for vehicle location.

·         Fuel module - to monitor fuel levels of the vehicle remotely.

·         Revs module - to set maximum revolutions per minute for a vehicle to report over revving.

·         Voice kits - to remotely establish low-cost voice communication.

·         FMS and CANBUS (new).

·         Power Take-Off (PTO) pick-up (Mechanical, Pneumatic or Hydraulic).

·         Driver ID tags, Dallas and RFID to identify drivers.

·         Trailer hitch and unhitch (fifth wheel mechanical switch or pneumatic switch to hydraulics).

·         Cargo door sensing - to initiate cargo door open / close status.

·         Over speed buzzer for driver alert.
